ABLE SEAMAN

Description

Able Seaman (AB) is a skilled member of the deck crew, responsible for supporting navigation, maintenance, and safety operations. This role embodies the traditions of seamanship, combining technical expertise with discipline and ceremonial respect for life at sea.

 

Qualifications

Fluent in English, oral and written (B1) is required;

A valid Mandatory, demonstrating your qualification and expertise in this duty;

A minimum of two years of Able Seaman experience cruise ship environment;

Proven ability to operate small craft used for passenger transfers and emergency response;

A strong commitment to following safety rules and protecting everyone on the ship;

Proficiency in deck upkeep/maintenance, seamanship principles, navigational practices, and emergency protocols;

Readiness to work flexible hours and adapt to dynamic maritime conditions;

A friendly and cooperative attitude to collaborate effectively with others team onboard.

 

Responsibilities

Keep the ship running smoothly and safely;

Help create a secure and enjoyable environment for everyone onboard; Make each voyage memorable for all guests;

Clean, sweep, and wash exterior decks to maintain cruise standards; Help deck team to perform routine inspections of safety gear and deck tools;

Help create amazing experiences for the guests; Ensure the ship’s daily operations are handled with care and professionalism;

Ensure the safe navigation and maintenance of the vessel while supporting the crew and passengers;

Assist the bridge team with steering the ship to participating in safety drills and keeping equipment in top condition;

Support emergency response efforts, including basic first aid and crowd control during evacuations.
