  • At least two years experience relevant to the position

  • Comfortable with rotating shifts, willingness to work flexible hours and extended periods at sea

Information about the Seafarer’s Employment Agreement (SEA)

  • The Seafarer’s Employment Agreement is written in English, in clear terms.
  • Duration of the SEA varies depending on the position and the ship’s owner. Usually, the contract lasts 06 to 09 months, with the possibility of extension.
  • The Seafarer’s Employment Agreement shall be executed directly between the seafarer and the shipowner, thereby establishing a binding agreement in accordance with applicable maritime labour conventions and regulations.
  • The average work rhythm is 11 hours per day, 7 days a week, with breaks throughout the day.

Selected candidates, after submitting the application, are invited to a general and technical interviews. The interview takes place at Gather Resources Madagascar’s office. Candidates are requested to provide the following documents:

  • Copy of work certificate/Record of employment
  • Language proficiency evidence
  • Police clearance
  • Already have a passport is a bonus

Successful applicants will receive comprehensive information regarding the shipowner’s company, ship, the position, contract length, etc…

The final selection will be conducted by company managers during the recruitment interview.

Gather Resources Madagascar will assist candidates in presenting themselves in the best possible manner and will provide details concerning the date, time, and location of the final stage of the recruitment process. The list of accepted candidates, along with their assigned positions, will be announced within a few days following the conclusion of the recruitment interview.

Following a successful recruitment interview, the candidate awaits confirmation of the embarkation date. This date is formally communicated through email or by phone to each candidate.

Waiting time for employment varies from 1 to 6 months, depending on the current needs of the ship owner for the position and the administrative capabilities.

PreEmployment Medical check-up

Gather Resources Madagascar will provide you with accurate information on the licensed medical practitioner who has been authorized to perform medical check-up, laboratory tests and examinations to be carried out before departure.

Excellent health is indispensable for working aboard; any unfavorable medical test results will disqualify a candidate, regardless of how far they have progressed in the recruitment process.

STCW, Passport, Maritime Courses and Trainings

  • Gather Resources Madagascar will provide you with detailed information about the training centers.
  • You must obtain your own seaman’s book.
  • Each candidate is required to secure their own valid passport

Visas

Gather Resources Madagascar will help you to prepare all the necessary documents needed to obtain Visas.
